Offered is a 2 ¾ x 4 ¾ original 1892 Republican National Convention ticket, which was held in Minneapolis. The convention nominated Benjamin Harrison for a second term, who was defeated by Grover Cleveland. The ticket is for the 2nd Day, Section C and is numbered 96, Main Floor, Session 2. Unusual with the ticket is the stub, which was removed so that the holder could attend.
The 1892 presidential election was a rematch of the closely contested 1888 election during which Harrison beat incumbent Cleveland. Harrison had defeated him for re-election in 1888. The 1892 election resulted in Cleveland’s victory and made him the first and only person in American history to be elected to a non-consecutive second presidential term.
