    LILLIAN RUSSELL (1860-1921) was born Helen Louise Leonard and is regarded as one of the most famous actresses and singers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. She was known for her beauty, style, voice and stage presence.  Russell was married four times and in later years wrote a column, advocated for women’s suffrage and contributed to the passage of the Immigration Act of 1924.

    DAME ALICE ELLEN TERRY (1847-1928) was an English actress who became the leading Shakespearean actress in Britain. 

    Offering a 4 x 6 ½ inscribed photograph “Ellen Terry with pleasure many thanks”  Labeled on the reverse by Theo C. Marceau of San Francisco. 

    Terry photograph is slightly light with some soiling.
