American War Hero John MCain, U.S. Senator – Signs Baseball
Senior United States Senator John McCain, born in 1936, was the Republican nominee for president in 2008. Largely regarded as an American hero even by his detractors, McCain was badly injured during a bombing mission over North Vietnam and was captured as a prisoner of war by the North Vietnamese. Held from 1967-1973, McCain courageously endured episodes of torture for refusing an out-of-sequence early repatriation offer. His war wounds have left him with lifelong physical limitations. He retired from the Navy in 1981, moved to Arizona and entered politics.
McCain was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1982, serving two terms. He was elected to the Senate in 1986, easily winning re-election in 1992, 1998, and 2004.
Rawlings Official American League baseball signed in the sweet spot in blue ink. Baseballs signed by McCain are rare. On the campaign trail, he would only sign copies of his on books. In very good condition and encased in baseball display case. Photo does not do it justice.
