The 61st Ohio Infantry Regiment was organized at Camp Chase in Columbus, Ohio, and mustered in for three years’ service on April 23, 1862, under the command of Col. Newton Schleich. The regiment fought in many important battles, including Gettysburg, Chancellorsville, Bentonville, Second Bull Run, Dallas, Resaca, Allatoona, Kennesaw Mountain, Peachtree Creek, Sherman’s March to the Sea, New Hope Church, Siege of Atlanta.
Offering the 21 x 31 muster roll of Captain Jacob F. Mader, Jr, from October 31, 1864 through December 31. Mader enlisted on February 25, 1862, as a Sergeant but was later promoted to Captain. The list of more than 30 individual names includes the places each soldier mustered into the service and the bounty paid, and signed at Savannah, GA.
Toning, some soiling. Fold tears reinforced with archival tape. Slightly fragile, but readable and a very fine example from this important regiment.
