INA CLAIRE (Oct. 15, 1893 – Feb. 21, 1985) began her active career in vaudeville. She also starred in Broadway plays with some of the leading comics of the 1920s, 30s and 40s. She performed in the musicals Jumping Jupiter, The Quaker Girl and Lady Luxury. She was heavily identified with the high comedies of S.N. Behrman and created the female leads in three of his plays: Biography, End of Summer and The Talley Method. Behrman was said of her, “Her readings were translucent, her stage presence encompassing…She never missed a nuance.” Claire is an inductee in the American Theatre Hall of Fame and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Nice full signature on her initialed note paper, c. 1920s, with a print photograph. Very nice for framing and a great piece of early Hollywood history from a very talented star.
