ELEANOR
ROSALYNN CARTER (born August 18,1927) is the wife of the 39th
President of the United States, Jimmy Carter. She served as the First Lady from
1977 to 1981. She has been a leading
advocate for numerous causes, most notably for mental health research. During
their White House years, Mrs. Carter was politically active, often sitting in
on Cabinet and policy meetings. She also served as an envoy abroad to Latin
America in particular.
