ROSE O’NEILL (June 25, 1874 – April 6, 1944) was an illustrator who created a popular period comic called Kewpie, which also resulted in the creation of the Kewpie Doll.

Two-piece grouping of a fine 5” x 6” cloth containing a color image of a Kewpie Doll with a rifle over his shoulder, copyright by Rose O’Neill, dated 1914, along with her autograph on a diminutive piece from an envelope, “From R. O’Neill,” to “Wilson Day, P.O. Taney Co., MO.”

Light soiling to the cloth piece and light toning to the autograph sheet.  Still a wonderful example of Americana.
