4 1/2 x 8 1/4, billhead receipt from George Rapelje of Mobile, AL, April 6, 1858, Dealer in Fancy and Staple Dry Goods, Negro Goods of Every Description.  Rapelje is listed in the 1854 Southern Business Directory. On blue lined paper. Signed by Johnson Davis as guardian for Miss Mary M. Davis.  Unclear whether Davis himself was a slave owner. Alabama signed the 13th Amendment to the Consitution in 1865.
