PRESIDENT JOHN FITZGERALD KENNEDY (May 29, 1917-November 22, 1963) was the 35th President of the United States. He served at the height of the Cold War and the majority of his presidency dealt with managing relations with the Soviet Union.  Kennedy was a Democrat who previously represented Massachusetts in the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate prior to becoming president.  Born in Brookline, MA, he was the second child of Joseph P. Kennedy Sr. and his wife Rose.  He narrowly defeated Richard Nixon in the 1960 election.

Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963 in Dallas, Texas.  Vice President Lyndon Johnson was sworn in as President later that day.  Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested for the crime but he was murdered by Jack Ruby two days after the assassination.

Texas had planned a welcome dinner honoring the president, vice president and their wives for the evening of November 22 at the Municipal Auditorium in Austin.  Offered is a beautiful ticket the seating in the balcony, press section.  Ticket number 1398, complete with its stub and the presidential seal – 2 ½ x 6 – was never used and remains a wonderful example of Kennedy history.
